A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR ALAN HART Life has a lesson for each one of us: LIFE is uncertain, that is what life is teaching us. Accidents, crime, diseases and many unforeseen things in this life are harvesting a great number of souls every day. Have you ever wondered where people go after they die? What if that day were today for you? Are you sure what would happen to you or where you would go? Would you like to know? The Bible teaches us that we can know for sure where we will go after death. The Apostle John wrote in his first letter: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13 The “eternal life” that the Apostle speaks of is a life without end, it is what God offers to those who will believe in Jesus Christ. In his letter to the Romans, the Apostle Paul wrote: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (6:23) Life beyond the grave, eternal life, is a gift of God, it cannot be won through our own efforts. Paul wrote to the Ephesians, ”For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (2:8,9) In Romans 3:10, the Bible says, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” No, not ONE!! Well, if I can’t work or be good enough to have eternal life, how may I have eternal life? I am glad you asked, for the Bible has the answer. First, you must know and admit to God that you are a sinner, with no hope of eternal life in your own power. The Bible clearly teaches us that two conditions must be met, please read the following from Romans chapter 10: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Confess with your mouth to God and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus His Son from the dead. You see, Jesus Christ died in our place on the cross of Calvary, He was buried, but He arose the third day in victory over sin and the grave. He did this for you and me! That is the Love of God. Jesus Himself said, in John’s Gospel chapter 3, verse 16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” It is easy to see that Paul taught the same thing as Jesus: believe on Jesus Christ and receive eternal life. Now that you know this, what will you do with this information? Will you continue to wonder where the dead are or will you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth? Will you now pray to God and ask for the gift of eternal life, confessing your sins to Him, believing in your heart?
